Do composite toes protect as good as steel toes?

Yes! In fact, composite toes must pass the same testing requirements as steel toe boots through ASTM standards.

Do you have wide or narrow sizes?

SM Outfitters has designed their boots to be customizable to different shaped feet. Utilizing different insoles provided you can adjust the fit to your foot needs by changing out the insoles!

How do the boots fit, what size should I order?

For half sizes, size down. For example, size 8.5 typically then size to 8 for boots. The boots run wide. The good news is we have free exchanges if the fit isn’t working out just right.

Why composite toe as opposed to steel toes?

Composite toes have no thermal conductivity, so those very cold or hot days/working environments won’t be transferred to your feet! Composite toes are also lighter than steel toes.

Why the metallic silver design?

Shannon, the owner, has found it benefits to where “memorable” professional items when interacting with colleagues and potential customers thus inspiring the metallic silver design. Be the woman with the silver boots, it works!

Do you use orthotic insoles?

We do not provide medical insoles, but the insoles provided can be removed and your own can be added in or used in conjunction with the provided insole.

Are the boots waterproof?

No leather footwear is waterproof; however, we do apply a water-resistant spray on the boots to keep your feet dry when working in wet environments. The short boot does have nylon panels, any puddles stepped in that reach the panel will have water ingress.

What inspired the designs?

The owner worked in the food industry most of her life. She took inspiration from her sanitation teams needs and desire to have better options for their job with their footwear and the owner also wanted options that weren’t boring for her own PPE.

Who should wear protective toe footwear?

Anyone and everyone who is performing work or in an environment that puts their feet at risk for injury! DIY project lovers, music festival goers, stagehands, etc. the list is endless!
